Varicose veins not only look unpleasant, but can also cause great
discomfort to the sufferer. Sclerotherapy uses a fine needle to inject
a solution such as sodium tetradecyl sulphate or polidocanol directly
into the vein. This solution irritates the lining of the vein, causing
collapse of the inner lining and ultimately the vein.
Sodium tetradecyl sulphate or polidocanol, when injected into the vein, provides symptomatic relief as well as improving the physical appearance.
